Church Services Today in Wetzlar Cathedral
Ever since the Reformation, both Catholic and Protestant services are held in Wetzlar Cathedral on Sundays. Both congregations use the same baptismal font and the same altar, which is rearranged for each service. The differences between the two denominations are evident in the way they worship. While the Protestant Church understands the service as a common gathering of the faithful in praise of God, for the Catholics it is a service of God for the people, a gift. Despite differences in content, the congregations are in dialogue today and celebrate their services not only side by side, but also with each other time and again. For, according to the two pastors, the decisive matters don’t separate the two denominations, but unite them.
