The Treaty of Versailles – Historical Background
History often has references that point to other eras. Three short films explain such backgrounds for the time around 1918/19: The Palace of Versailles as the place where peace was concluded had great symbolic significance for the French. For the Germans had founded their Reich here after defeating France in 1871. For the Poles, a long period of oppression of their nation ended in 1918.
