Women

The woman as man’s companion – this is what the National Socialist state promotes as the ideal female role. But in reality, women are primarily supposed to have children and raise them. This is considered their duty to the Volksgemeinschaft and the Führer. Incentives include state support or bravery medals such as the Mother’s Cross. To a limited extent, women may also have a professional career as educators and nurses or in on of the many NSDAP social organisations. However, leading positions are not provided for them, and they are also prevented from studying. In industry, women are frowned upon as workers until the outbreak of war in 1939. Only then are they also needed in male domains – as "work comrades of the front-line soldiers". mehr weniger
